Project Based Learning at Kōkua Academy

At Kōkua Academy, we follow researched and proven methods to engage our students in learning activities and knowledge acquisition that will stay with them for a lifetime. Students will be a vital part of the learning process, from design and implementation through public presentation. Units are thematic, and students will actively participate in them, as PBL is a student-centered learning approach. Throughout this process, they will learn to manage their time in class and outside. They will learn to communicate with each other as diverse solutions to problems are proposed. They will learn resilience through solutions that don’t work – failure is just one small part of success. They will learn to collaborate with their classmates and celebrate their classmates’ successes as much as their own as solutions come together to reach the common goal.
